SmartLipo™ is recent technology that marries laser science and the well-established procedure of liposuction. Localized unwanted fatty deposits are treated with this office-based procedure. During these procedures, the skin and fatty tissues are anesthetized. A thin laser fiber is inserted beneath the skin to melt fat deposits and disrupt fat cells forever. Once liquefied, fat is removed with a thin suction tube.  During this process the body can be sculpted. The heat generated by the laser impulses obliterates fat cells, controls bleeding, and activates skin collagen so that skin contracts and shrinks to conform to the newly sculpted body. These procedures produce very gratifying results but are limited to localized fatty deposits. People with major skin redundancy will often need formal reconstructive surgery.
