Stomaphyx

Stomaphyx™ is an endoscopic procedure to help those who have had a previous gastric bypass or other stomach resective procedure and are suffering from weight regain or reflux. In most instances, these changes are associated with stomach pouch dialation, or a widening of the opening (anastamosis) between the stomach pouch and the intestine which it is hooked to. These changes result from relaxation of scar tissue over time and are worsened by repetative high volume eating. The aim of this procedure is to shorten and stiffen the pouch and narrow the anastamosis to re-establish volume restriction. This occurrs when endoscopic stitches are used to plicate and narrow the pouch. Not all patients respond to this treatment, but most have found this intervention to be a helpful way to “re-boot” their programs.
